You dont know much about plans do you ICJL do you...
Acually this guy DID survive it, this video is used as a "training tool" at most Air Force/Navy schools. Being around Jet engines is no Joke, Iv seen a C-17's Engine blow two full size trucks and a Chopper down the flightline, and a F-16 suck up a pit lid (200lb +) off the flight line. Howe this particular situation the guy survived because he leg pants got caught on lip of the engine, which saved his life. |

Keep in mind this was an much older version than the current jet engines we use, the chances of surviving a modern jet engine sucking you in is virtually zero, back then your chances must have been much higher |

Actually i have seen that guy on maximum exposure the tv show, they interviewed him, he was standing in a red zone and should not have stood up into the suction area, of course he said the famous words ( i knew i shouldn't have been standing up right at the moment it happend.... ) |

Not only did his pants get stuck but his helmet fell off into the blades witch destroyed the engine.

First of all the video is old, secondly that isn't the pilot. It would be hard for the pilot to be in the cockpit AND getting sucked into the intake of the jet engine.
Secondly that is the crew chief that was sucked into the intake.
Additionally this is in fact not fake. For all of you ignorant asses out there that THINK that you know it all, this is real. The reason that the crew chief lived is because the chin strap on his helmet failed and the helmet FODed out the engine before it chopped his ass up.
Idiots. |

This guy is the happiest biped worldwide.
He was just sucked into the engine of an military plane.
To be sucked into a civilian jet engine is absoluty deadly.
Here some pictures of an mechanic, sucked into Boeing 737 engine in Texas.

If its not fake then he must have the thickest scull on record. The blades are not only for ramming air through the turbine but also they get gradually smaller in order to chop up any birds etc into tiny little pieces to be burnt in the combustion chamber. I know they are designed for smaller birds but even when a big bird goes through it may kill the engine but the bird is FUBAR too.
Have a look at the inside of one.

Ah! I thought I'd seen this before, and you've just reminded me. This was indeed on Sesame Street and that was Big Bird going up there. Which makes the comment about the plane eating a chicken all the more tasteless. |

| Yes there are many blades inside the engine however his head did not hit any of the blades whats so ever (his pant legs and helmet strape got caught on the edge of the engine), Yes it is real and yes it was a crew chief not the pilot. |

OmgLook! It's a bunch of fucking morons watching a video on the internet again! Listen dipshits... that video was taken from the same ship that I serve on right now. The number 71 in the upper right corner is the ship's hull number... CVN-71 -- The USS Theodore Roosevelt. Thats a EA6B Prowler which had inhaled the Chief Petty Officer with those bandages on. The video is real, and he was alive because of the fact that the flight deck protective equipment he was wearing stopped the turbine blades from slicing him into barbeque steaks. He was spit out the intake because the Prowler is one of the most powerful jets in the fleet. Although this video was shot in '91... we still watch it as part of our training. Lesson learned.
I'm glad you all know what youre talking about. Maybe you should go out and find yourselves a few girlfriends. Hell, have one on me. ;-) |

To reitterate:
How could ANY of you think that this is fake?!! I can attest that it was very real, as I was there the evening that it happened, approx. 30 ft. away. This event occurred on the aircraft carrier Theodore Roosevelt CVN-71. I was an aircraft director (yellow shirt/V1 Division) on the flight deck at the time. It was approx. 3 a.m. and we were in the middle of the Persian Gulf during Operation Desert Storm. The guy that got sucked inside was a trainee for the V2 (catapult division/green shirt). He did survive with numerous cuts and abrasions to his head and pretty bad damage to his right shoulder I believe. The only reason he did survive was because of the pilot's quick reaction to shut down the turbine on the EA-6B. The Green Shirt's cranial and life vest also FOD'ed (tore apart) the blades inside the turbine. The Green Shirt even climbed out of the turbine himself before any of us close actually knew what happened. FYI...this video is from an infrared camera. It is pitch black on the flight deck of a carrier at night & often you can't see your hand in front of your face!! Although this was 16+ yrs. ago, I remember it like it was yesterday!!!! |
