It may be the reason that you have problems with your girl as well, since depression/negativism affects people around you just as much as yourself. And it drives people away since it becomes very tough to handle people with that state of mind. Especially if they or the depressed person isn't aware of that it is a condition that needs to be adressed... Usually people who are deeply depressed tend to blame people around them and get agitiated for no reason, not really meaning to harm anyone. It's just the only way that these people can communicate when being in that mindstate.

I think my brother is suffering from some form of it as well, perhaps the same as a friend of mine over there in the states. She's suffering from Bipolar disorder, which basically means that she has periods of major depression mixed with periods of mania. Mania in this case is the psychology term for extreme bursts of energetic activities... It's like going way down, and then right up again.

So if you need an advice, seriously. Go seek up a mental health professional, if you have a problem those people have the experience and knowhow to help you. My friend in the states is doing well these days, now that she knows what it is she has, and how to deal with it.

I am actually sitting infront of the computer eating a sandwitch after just getting home from the doctor.. and contemplating if I should start my first anti depressant that he just prescribed me. Funny isnt it...seriously I JUST got home and this is the first thing I read.
The thing is my wife and I have been together for almost 15 years and married for 8... we were high school sweeties.. and last week she decided that she needs to "find herself".. so she left. She has been depressed for a long time.. and I finally encouraged her to see a doctor and start some counceling ...Shitty thing is I was trying to help and then SHE leaves.. but I know she NEEDS this... It sucks cuz I love the fucking shit outta her.. but she has such a hard time loving herself.. so all my work just turns into control and we just go round and round in this co-dependant cycle. I guess what I'm saying is if you feel this way go talk to a doctor.. (and fuck everyone who says shit about anti depressants) they will help you get centered... balanced... then you can start looking for the reasons that you feel so off. I so wish my wife and I would have done this stuff sooner... it would have made for some happier years and prevented this drama and counceling that we start TODAY... funny thing isnt it... we are all so seperated but so interconnected. It might as well be just as funbags said, it's hard to say from only one post. I was just thinking that if it's one's situation that causes the mood-swing or depression, it ought to feel like it sucks most of the time... And you just pointed out yourself that everything around you is great, and the feeling that it sucks only comes at times.
The causes for momentary depressed feelings can run shallow or deep and doesn't necessarily have anything to do with your surroundings. No matter if you are rich or poor, individuals might still feel happy or depressed in either situation.

Happiness doesn't all come from holding a good job, or what things you have. But rather from within yourself and how you relate to everything around you... I have öearnt that some people are pretty much "in need" of being social and near people all the time, while others might be just the opposite. And those in the middle, that socializes alot but also take time for themselves to do recreational things.

The reasons for the sadness and depressional feelings have quite different reasons depending on what kind of person you are in many cases... So it's hard to say why you would feel as you do at times. Someone that knows you better would probably be able to hand you a better advice, but most of the time if it's a really tough case. A third party is better to talk to. A friend or a relative is usually seeing you as a good person with no problems. so their advices aren't very objective, it would probably be the simplest things like encouragements. What you need is someone who is bound to confidentiality like a councelor that you can open up to... Like with funbags it might just be that you need to change something, and he put it in a good way too; "knowing what you are is the first step to overcoming the problem"... And to know that you might need some guidance.
