well, the yanks should know what EXACLTLY they have done/perpetrated out in Iraq, if I were a yank I would jhang my head in shame, the good old days of the USA are over with missions like Iraq. Folk dont even understand how much of a bloody mess that place is. I know the brits have gone out there but only in the south and their troops are minimal compaired to the led USA forces. I know of SAS soldiers that wont go back to Iraq and work with the yanks because of the horrific way they treat the Iraqi civilans, they treat them like lesser humans thean themselves, and little fuck wits on this site will brush it off and still think their country is so fucking great, well its not especially when it comes to hurting innocent people. |

Began as a "war on terror". A needful action from the goverment who needed to show the citizens of america after 9/11 that they were doing something than just talk. Cause and effect if you will... The "help" or "aid" is just another effect from all the media attention. And to show the world that they are righteous in their war.. yadda yadda propaganda... |

That would depend on which network you're watching, and how much you're willing to buy what is being said... Some shit is just to transparent. And in the states, the media is of course almost sickeningly in it's way of potraying the war, naturally... I suppose they learnt their lesson from vietnam when they were busy aiding those people. Folks are easily fucking swayed and letting people think for them.. |

| I am not saying that we have been perfect in Iraq. Nobody's perfect. But we went in with the best of intentions. We wanted to free the Iraqi people from the Saddam dictatorship. It backfired on us because these people don't know how capitalism works, they have been ruled by fear and religious extremism for thousands of years. As an American, I believe we are truly trying to help these people. We have our motives of course. (Ex..Some believe if Iraq becomes a stable free nation other Muslim nations will follow suit.) Its an interesting theory and worth some thought. But ultimately we are taking an active role in fighting nations that we believe harbor terrorists. Iran is walking a tight rope right now. |

We all like to think the best about the actions taken by our leaders. But fact is im afraid that our goverments. And i mean all of them, are basically full of shit. And their true motives and intentions are neatly and cleverly cloaked in well told tales of half-truths and lies. Keywords these days always being "Democracy", "Freedom", "Peace", "Terror".
History has consistently shown that during conflicts. The messages, information and true reasons about the ongoing war(s) to the people, on both sides, have been swaped for psychologically satisfying phrases, in order to boost the moral and belief in the righteous cause... Of course it's only the winning side of the conflict that is right in the end.
I learnt from history, and i trust noone and nothing. |

Why ?, easily answered really... Money. If you stabilize that region, imagine the possible trade.
Another couple of 100 million souls to become materialistic just like ourselves. If one thinks the environment is getting fucked these days.. just wait til the rest of the world is mimicing our consuming way of lives. |

I couldn't agree with you more, but at the same time you have to show support for the people of your country. Just as Britain shows the U.S support and vica versa. It is your obligation as a citizen of your country. You have to give your allegiance to something or else you are just living a lie. You are erasing your roots... Where you came from...In retrospect, I don't think the Afgahn and Iraqi people will practice democracy ever...... unless they decide to love one another despite their different religious backgrounds. |

World Domination is a thing of the past... ex... Persian Empire, Roman Empire.
Countries don't do that anymore.
It's more profittable to be allies with stable economic countries. |

I never said i didnt support my country or show any alligances. I love my country and the people just like everyone else... I just dont support my goverment or any other since i dont trust them...
The social background is too divided between the people who rule and the people on the street. On one hand you have a small amount of rich comfortable people who have gone to fine private schools, and have been brought up sheltered from the real and hard life on the street in nice neighbourhoods. Those are the ones who will inherit the leading positions of their parents in the politics or business companies... And on the other side, you have the people that have been brought up in the opposite end on the streets, who has to take all the shit from the spoilt no good selfish assholes.
The people who are to be the next generation of political figures aren't like the "average joe" at all. Which shows quite fucking obviously. Their decisions are always egoistic, and they live secluded from the public... You think those cold bloodless fuckers gives a shit about the people ? ... hardly. The only thing they are interested in, are the same thing as their career estranged parents have brought them up to love. Money and power.
The day we get intelligent ordinary people from the commonfolk in the goverment, that's the day i might show alligance to that place. |

| The only problem is they have to be somewhat educated and the life you described for the rich comfortable people is the life that will supply it. I think you have a very good point but I don't think the average joe could handle it. I think guys like you and I could, but I think we have a little bit of intellect on the average joe. I think we would both be surprised of the i.q. of the average joe (at least here in America). Hell! All our local newspapers are written with six-grade reading skills. That is a fact, I learned that in a publication class I had in college. The point is I don't think the average joe could handle the pressure and responsiblity of protecting millions of people each and everyday for four or even eight years. |

They make it out to be more complex than it really is... If you have hundreds of people working on governing a country it isn't really that fucking complicated to sort things out, everyone have their own field which they are supposed to handle... Just take a look at the roman empire how much difference it meant switching rulers.. Some sucked, and some were ant effcicent. France in the 1800's, Napoleon bonaparte virtually did everything during his reign on his own, and they were the greatest power in the world in his days. Hitler managed to reorganize the german goverment which the communist party had fucked up after WWI... It's just a matter of logic, reason and understanding.
Wrong people, bad governance. Great people, great governance. Logic. |

How do you know how the country was before? Did you live there? Did you know any one of those 70,000 kurds that were murdered by the regime.
I am not condoning the war, I am just saying, once Saddam died of natural causes, don't you think that this country would have gone into a civil war anyways? There has been political and religious strife here for centuries and one dictator couldn't change that. |

He had sons who would definately take over after him, notice that they were all killed off one by one. |

True! But one was more into the military and the other was involved with the media. Which one would have taken his place as leader of Iraq. They would have feuded there positions of power for the rest of their lives leading to a worse situation than now. |

Not likely, the oldest son would take over. They have a strict way with the family heriarchy amongst the arabs... We westerners are always fed with the notion that people in non democratic countries are in the brink of war and chaos.
Besides that, in a dictatorship the one who controls the loyalty of the army wins. |

Too bad the younger son is the that controlled the army (More specificaly the Republican Guard) so you are contradicting your own theory... |

| the republican guard is too small to lever enough power to launch a coup, ^ that post is a logical falacy |

Was i ? ... I said that the one who controls the army in a dictatorship would win *IF*, there should be a powerstruggle.
But i believe the oldest son would have taken over, that was already decided at birth. And they are raised knowing that from the start... I guess it all depends on how close the fami | |
