Actually guys, a Navy pilot throws the jet to full military power as soon as the wheels touch the deck, so if he misses the cable he can take off again. He must have caught the cable, but the cable was set for a lighter aircraft, and so did not stop him by the end of the runway. Ship's crew error, not pilots. I'm not sure I would have punched out in this case though, might have been better to ride it out.
