You're assuming that gun collectors are paranoid. I've known many collectors and gun enthusiasts and found very few of them paranoid. I often carry a gun because cause a cop is too heavy. Remember, when seconds count, the cops are just minutes away. After all, if you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck.

Not at all, but semi-military weapons and drilled kids

It's all sad in well meaning of course, just a little satire over the cold war mentality

Uh??? Whether you kill a deer with an arrow or a rock you still have venison.

There are a LOT of calibers better suited than an AR 15 for killing deer. All of them much having greater energy and a heavier slug. FYI. The AR15 uses a 222 bullet that is the same diameter as a 22 long rifle but fired at much higher velocity. As all bullets DROP at the same speed, this extreme velocity permits the bullet to travel further before dropping which allows one to hit a more distant target without needing as much compensation for bullet drop. Naturally the higher speed bullet has far greater energy than a 22 LR but it still is not a great killing weapon. In modern warfare, the idea is to wound, not kill. The reason is, it requires two men to rescue a wounded man which effectively means you get three for one. If you kill a man you have only killed one man so you have still have two firing back at you instead of them humanely rescuing the wounded. When killing a deer this is not the preferred option. The idea is to kill the animal quickly not wound it. So most (knowledgeable) people will use a heavier caliber firearm for deer.

I believe your reference to overkill was based on your erroneous assumption that all AR15s are capable of full automatic fire. Not true. Most civilian models are strictly semi auto. Besides which, you assume (as most people do) that when a weapon is capable of full auto fire it becomes a magic dragon with special capabilities. It takes one well placed bullet to accomplish what a spray of bullets cannot accomplish if they don't hit anything. Another reason for the 222 being a poor deer caliber is the very light weight bullet is easily deflected by twigs when used in the woods (deer country).

Learn about the history of a nation, then you might understand more of what you think is "weird" culture. Guns in America is just as natural as everyone owning a fishing rod. It was the fact that the commoners all had guns and were willing to use them for a common cause that freed the people from imperialism and founded America as we know it... It was seen as being of such importance to the countrys freedom that it was added as a constitutional right. The country was founded under completely different circumstances than ours in Europe, and by people from all over Europe.

I don't understand all the mentalities around guns over there, some people is just, way outta there in my oppinion. But then again i don't live there so i don't pass judgement on it... Personally i would want gunlaws like they have, for me and for everyone who are equally responsible and mature enough to own and use them. But i would equally hate the thought of the opposite kinds to have them.. Which is how it is stateside.

50 years ago we could buy and own just about any gun you could think of over here. But as we don't have any constitution that prevents the state from acting out laws as they please, we are now controlled and restraint from buying and owning them like we used to.

Here people have to suffer of restrictions from how other people missbehave. Shit happens, and laws are sure to follow to ban shit. It's a more.... Fluctuating freedom over here than what a constitution provides... Provided of course that it is strictly followed and not ammended every time they see fit.
