Ridiculous.
It would have been so easy for him to handcuff her without tazing her or use much power.
Cops are suppose to be trained to handle difficult people, without using violence.
In this case he is using his tazer gun as a torture devise. If you don't do what I say, you get tortured. It should be used only to stop people who might be a danger to the cop or others. |

i know ya'll hate me cuz of the last cop vid. but i have to agree, why do ppl figh... i'm a mexican from los angeles in nebraska, i been pulled over litterally hundreds of times for everything from "you were swerving " to " immproper mount of licence plates" ... i think it has to do with racial profiling even tho i had a warrant for my arrest i never had even the slightest trouble with any of the cops i'd agree in this case it was extreme and the shock may have killed her, but when are ppl going to learn to stop resisting arrest and not say "i dare you" to someone who we all know will get away with it... cops abuse there power no doubt but we don't need to give them the opening to do so |

Yes, people who resist arrest are idiots, and I don't really have pity for them, but it in no way excuses using force like that, where there is no need for it at all.
Handling difficult people is part of the job for a cop. If people weren't difficult, we wouldn't need cops. We don't need them to taze some old woman, just because she is a nut, when she clearly is of no danger to the cop. |

1. She resisted.
2. In the full video, she cussed him several times.
3. She was defiant throughout the whole stop.
She did everything that you shouldn't do.
I think if he would have tried to restrain her along with her resisting and trying to jerk away he would have ended up physically hurting the fragile old lady.
I think he did the right thing. I've been hit with the taser. It hurts like hell, but when its over its over. You recover very quick.
He isnt torturing her. I will say this, there are some bad cops out there that give all the rest a very bad name.
Also, even if she was just a nut, thats still no excuse NOT to taze her. It's easy to be over critical when your sitting in front of a computer. |

My grandfather retired as a Major from one of the largest departments in Arkansas. You dont have to worry about my grandmother being disrespectful.
Did I not just mention that there ARE some CORRUPT cops that make all the other outstanding police officers look bad? I go through this everyday.
My point is that he was justified in doing so. Not that he HAD to taze her.
All she had to do was cooperate and absolutely NONE of this would have happened. SHE brought every bit of it on herself. She was the one that escalated the situation to that point. Am I wrong?
I hate that any of this even happened. I sincerely do. But... Police are going to catch the bad rap anyway, no matter just because of the bad apples in the police community.
It's a whole different outlook when your looking at it from the computer. I'm not saying that I would have taken the exact same actions as he chose to, but he was justified in doing what he did. |

Being disrespectful is a human right, not something to be tazed for.
It is completely irrelevant how it is her own fault. Cops are law enforcers. They are suppose to stop crime. They are not suppose to punish you for your crime. That's up to the justice system. So no matter what all she had to do was, the cop is suppose to handle it in a safe way, and handcuffing someone without tazing them is part of their training. |

Cops should be trained to handel elderly people with kit gloves if they are in no danger... Care givers at old folks homes do it on a daily bases with people that are much less compliant than she was... This old women could have easly fallen, hit her head on the asphalt and died... Its obvious the cop here didn't like her disrespecting him... So he decided to become court, jury, and judge, and convict and punish her on the spot...

Thats what i am thinking. This old woman COULD NOT be any danger to that cop, so why tazer her?
He could simply reason with her and listen to her.. Cops are also responsible for talking to people, and not tazer them, or shoot them in the face.. .

Unlike some others I seriously doubt that you are involved or ever have had any law enforcement training as, a trained officer knows enough to use minimum force. Her orneriness or cursing of this (next to her) giant officer hardly qualified her as a subject for extreme force. Tasing is not without some danger especially for some older people. Since June 2001, there have been more than 270 TASER-related deaths in the United States. This is the result of TASERs being used as tools of routine force, rather than as weapons of last resort as it was intended. Now who's "being quite ridiculous"? |

1st she is risisting bigtime so putting her in handcuffs would have been a fight most definitely 2nd it may have looked bad but at the same time we don't know why she got pulled over, it is possible she was an unsafe driver so him stopping her even by a painful method would be protecting her and 3 just cuz she's old do that mean the rules that apply to me dont to her? |

That's retarded. If he were to worry about being pushed into traffic, he could go to the other side, or push her. There was no danger form her at all.

I never had a problem with any, I've never been arrested or anything. But cops have to follow rules, just like everybody else, and even more so. It's their job to handle difficult situations safely.
You are so dumb that you think if the cop didn't get in trouble, it is absolutely ok. First of all, it's a fact that cops (and any other type of person) have gotten away with doing very bad things. So there goes your logic down the drain. Second, just because somethin is within the law, does not mean it's ok.
And no, it is no ok for the cop just to do whatever they want, because you are mouthing off to them, or resisting arrest. It's their fucking job to handle it without unnecessary violence.
According to your logic, if innocent people in iraq had just confessed to the crimes they didn't do, they could have avoided torture.
According to your logic, if's ok to taze anyone who jaywalks. If they has just followed the law, they would have avoided it.

It's not up to us to deem whether he was right or wrong. If the board handling the case deemed it appropriate use of force, then what we say doesn't really matter. And how does my logic deem that? I was saying that he had video proof of her resisting arrest. As soon as she pulled her wrist out of his hand, that was resisting arrest. I'm not saying it was absolutely ok for him to taze her, but I'm not saying it was absolutely wrong. Poeple like you don't realize that the world isn't as black and white as you want it to be. There are gray areas. he wasn't wrong, but he wasn't wholly right. |
